The eyes are our most magnetic feature given their powerful ability to attract. They draw in and communicate volumes of material to the observing onlooker and the strength of their magic is in their ability to captivate, hold, and mesmerize.
If eyes are the windows to the soul, then eyelashes could certainly be considered the window dressing. The use of cosmetic eyeliners easily emphasizes these remarkable attributes for women, but these products simply donít hold up to the length of a day. Permanent makeup eyeliner never shrinks from its duty to adorn these divine orbs with perfect accents of color and depth. It never smears, fades, runs, rubs, or cries off.
Standard permanent eyeliner is the basic color placement on upper and lower eyelids. Thickness, length, and color are client preference. A black-brown is the most popular shade, with the upper eyeliner a little darker than the lower eyeliner. In addition to the standard eyeliner, you can request dual tones, accents, eyeshadow slabs, or anything else. Coloring extra dark through the upper lashline and stacking it with a lighter tone creates a look of a plush lashline that looks great without mascara or anything else.
Lash line enhancement is shading in the lash line for a thicker appearance of eyelashes. Call it a barely-there eyeliner. Lashline enhancement is for people who do not care for eyeliner, but look bare without it. Some women like eyeliner on top only or bottom only, and would benefit using lash enhancement on the unlined portions. Because soft shades are used and less pigment is implanted for lash enhancement, expect it to fade off faster. Light enhancement is used for men. Many actors and male models have it done. Heavy enhancement would be used for females.
Lower eyelid rim tints can look soft or stunning. Light, sheer tints will brighten eyes, but dark or concentrated colors will make the eye look smaller - especially if nothing is done with the lash line. Color can be run just on the edge of the rim near the lash line, or cover the entire depth of the rim. Rim tints may be applied in 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, or full lengths like standard eyeliner. The spongy, wet tissue of the eyelid rim makes the tattooed color look translucent, almost glowing. It does not have the opaque appearance that topical eyeliner pencil has.
For todayís client, there are so many possibilities with eyeliner that were never available when I was a customer of permanent cosmetics. Tiny touches or thin lines of color can be added to an eyeliner line to bring out the different color flecks that are present in an iris. Accent colors are used to match, contrast, or deepen the eyes. Edges of eyeliner can be defined, softened, smoothed, or a faded smoky / smudgy top. Defined permanent eyeliner looks like liquid eyeliner. The edges are sharp and clear. With softened permanent eyeliner, the edges are lightened and blurry. A smoky / smudgy effect is similar to eyeliner shadowing. This smudgy/smoky/shadowing is the look you get when you apply eyeliner pencil, then take your finger and wipe it - smearing it out. It looks like eyeshadow on the edges. Since smoky effects and eye shadowing are diluted concentrations with less pigment implanted to achieve the look, expect it to fade off faster. Full eyelid permanent eyeshadow (the way most people consider eyeshadow) is not the same as an accent. The accent is just a dab of color. Endless combinations can be used. How about stacked and graduated with a faded off smoky top, or a slab of sheer eyeshadow on the top edge.
These options are all dependent upon the desires of the client who may simply wish to keep it natural. What the active gals may find works best for them have is to have the lash lines enhanced for travel, camping, and all other times when makeup is not a reasonable option. This way, you can reserve the option to add eyeliner and eyeshadow appropriate to various occasions and never locked into a specific look. You may now however, find the accent colors to be very tempting indeed!
